In 2025, around 70% of German companies reported already being affected by the physical impacts of climate change. At the same time, the transformation processes associated with decarbonization are affecting virtually all businesses. Since small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are often less diversified and therefore more vulnerable to damage, they should address their climate risks at an early stage in order to implement suitable adaptation measures, which may vary by region.
