In order to achieve these targets, new technologies to reduce CO2 emissions must be developed and implemented in companies. The energy sector must expand solar and wind power plants. Many of these financings do not fit into the risk profile of banks and insurance companies, so development banks must play an important role in the transformation.

The EU taxonomy is intended to mobilize investment and channel it into ecologically sustainable areas. However, mobilizing the necessary investment needs requires not only a high level of own funds and a significant expansion of all financing options, but also efficient promotion of the transformation with appropriate incentives and a high impact in order to ensure that companies contribute to achieving the goals of a climate-neutral economy.

Stable framework conditions as well as standardized and impact-oriented sustainability criteria in funding are important here. In addition, simple and digital application processes in direct business and house bank procedures are required to ensure that the funding offers are taken up.

How does Fin.Connect.NRW deal with the topic of funding?

Fin.Connect.NRW focuses on technical discussions and further developments in transformation financing. A regular exchange of experience and knowledge between the stakeholders takes place in various event formats.

To this end, information from practice and science is prepared and concrete recommendations for action are developed for banks, companies (especially SMEs) and for state policy.

Fin.Connect.NRW deals with the topic of funding in the "Financing and Funding" specialist group, in which members of the competence center can network with relevant stakeholders on specific topics and provide important impetus for NRW as a business location.

In addition, the topic of funding plays a central role in the Transfer specialist group, which focuses on the transfer of practice-oriented knowledge on transformation financing in the SME and banking landscape.
